Insurance Law for Rottweilers Dobermans Pit Bull

Kenmare, ND – Insurance Law for Rottweilers, Dobermans and Pit Bull

Owners of Rottweilers, Dobermans and Pit Bull will not have to get rid of them. In Kenmare, N.D., dog owners will have to license their dogs and keep them secure. The Kenmare City Council members had considered a ban on some dog breeds which they considered as potentially dangerous, however instead Kenmare City Council decided to regulate them instead.

The revised ordinance grandfathers existing pit bulls, Rottweilers and Doberman pinchers if they are registered and licensed before June 1. Owners must provide proof of liability insurance in the amount of at least $300,000 and must follow requirements for securing the dogs.

Any dog alleged to be vicious due to an attack on a person or animal can be impounded until a hearing is held. Enforcement is to begin June 15. Dog owners failing to comply can be fined between $25 and $100 a day.
